Golden Eagles Beat Warriors In OT On Menard's Goal

TURLOCK – Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team got just enough offense on Friday to pick up a big road victory.
 
The Golden Eagles got an overtime goal from freshman Dana Menard and edged Cal State Stanislaus, 1-0, Friday at Warrior Soccer Field. Cal State L.A. (6-4, 4-3) snapped a two-match losing streak with the win and jumped right back into the chase for one of four California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament berths. The Golden Eagles moved into second place in the CCAA South Division with the victory.
 
The Golden Eagles had a big statistical edge in the contest against Cal State Stanislaus (6-6-1, 5-2-1). Cal State L.A. had a 19-8 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 margin in the second half. Cal State Stanislaus goalie Jessica Sitarz made eight saves for the Warriors to keep them close.
 
Reyna Coca made four saves and posted her fourth shutout of the season.
 
Menard had a big game, recording a match-high five shots, while Kastidi Robles took four shots.
 
That duo combined for the winning score. Robles crossed the ball to Menard and she kicked it into the net for her third goal of the season.
 
Both teams finished with two corner kicks.
 
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Sunday with a road match at Chico State.
